Security+ Passed and what comes next
So it’s been a couple of months since I’ve last posted. I promise I haven’t given in but as my previous posts may have indicated I’ve been taking my Comptia Security+ course.
Well today I took that exam and passed with flying colours with a score of 819/900. This officially makes me Sec+ qualified. Expect a Linkedin post within the next few days!
Not to toot my own horn but I am very proud of myself about this one. While fairly high level the amount of knowledge to learn is massive and being entirely self-taught and the amount of time put into learning these concepts in the hope of getting this has been quite frankly insane.
So with that all being said and done, that question is – what next?
Well, the plan is still developing at the moment. There are some life things I’ve had to put off to do this (the garden isn’t going to landscape itself!) but otherwise here’s the list:
- Build on my practical experience. While I obviously can’t do this within a real-life setting there are resources such as tryhackme and letsdefend I will be using to get as close as I can.
- Start preparing for later exams. While I have what I would consider (from my limited experience). The minimum experience for the SOC role to strengthen my chances and deepen my understanding it makes sense to go further. I’m will be studying for CYSA+ and Ethical Certified Hacker.
- Creating my own lab and practicing some analysis and hacking on test systems. This will be a project but will be hoping to post my progress on this blog.
With that. One major milestone complete. Right now I feel completely drained and need a good KFC so ta-da for now!
